Our Parent Poem
Unity
By Cleo V. Swarat
I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there,
The clay they used was a young child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher:
the tools she used were books and music and art;
One was a parent
With a guiding hand and gentle, loving heart.
And when at last their work was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had worked into the child
Could never be sold or bought!
And each agreed she would have failed
if she had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school,
and behind the teacher stood the home!

Mrs. Woolever's Beliefs about Education
“There is a brilliant child inside every student.” Marva Collins
I believe that all children are capable of learning, not only from the teacher, but from one another. Teachers are the guides to the learning journey. I believe that it is my job to welcome my students with high expectations, consistency, a positive attitude, clear goals, and warmth. My first goal each year is that I will encourage and model independent thinking, learning, and reading. My second goal is to inspire and encourage better citizens. My third goal is that I will engage all my students so that they will become better problem solvers. Although I believe that parents play the most significant role in their child’s education, I feel honored and privileged to enrich and support each child in my classroom.

Daily Homework
Each day, your child will be given work to do in class to demonstrate their skills and learning. They will normally be given plenty of time to complete their skill work in class. Each evening, they should only have “practice homework” if they have used their time wisely during the day. The practice homework is required Monday through Thursday, and includes 20 minutes of reading (out loud reading to an adult is best);
Thank you in advance, for helping your child be diligent with their practice homework and encouraging them to be a lifelong learner.
